Sometimes the hardest things to say are also the most important. It doesn't matter how much it scares you to do so, it's finally time to be honest.

01. I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE
Unfortunately, you can't keep lying to your partner/friend/family anymore. You just don't feel the same for them anymore.
02. I WOULD KILL YOU
The person who means so much to you has done something completely unforgivable and now it's time to make sure they know where they stand. You would kill them if you ever got the chance.
03. I LOVE YOU, BUT...
A bittersweet love confession. You know you love this person more than anything, but you're not sure you can give them what they need.
04. I DON'T TRUST YOU
No matter how you feel about this person, you really can't trust them anymore.
05. SACRIFICE
You're going to sacrifice yourself, for the person you're talking with or for the good of all humanity. You want them to know the reasons and that there's no stopping you.

Either you're ashamed of something they have done or something you did, either way you need to bring it up.

The person standing in front of you looks so happy to see you, so relieved, but how do you tell them you can't remember a thing about them?

You don't understand how they could treat you like they have, do what they have done when you've done nothing but be good to them.

[ he's silent for a long, long time. lets him think maybe he's got an edge and struggles to come up with an answer that doesn't give anything. he doesn't want to give, he just wants to receive, but he knows he's been unfair and doesn't want to admit it. because he's mad. ]

[ what a shitty answer. since Tavros has turned away he allows himself a frown, unfolding his arms. ]

Okay.

[ okay. he expected nothing else. ] I'm going to sleep on the futon. Goodnight.

Don't bother, I'm going out.

[ to the porch, yeah. he makes a point of jingling his keys as he grabs them off the table. ]

Don't wait up.

[ That doesn't get an answer. He's just suddenly painfully aware that his teeth have sunk deeper into his lips and that's going to hurt for a while as he makes his way to the living room. At least in here doesn't smell like Dave. ]

[ it's a long while before he comes back in. made a few calls, sent a few texts, went down to the liquor store and returned with a whole case of those little 99ers that he likes so much and after choking down three of them he's stumbling a little as he heads inside again. this is much easier than dealing with it sober. when he's drunk he doesn't actually care, instead of just pretending he doesn't. he could walk in front of a bus and it wouldn't phase him.

the same way noisily tripping into the living room and rattling the coffee table with how hard he sets down the remainder of the plastic case of tiny bottles doesn't phase him. or falling into the nearest chair and reaching up to mash his shades straight on his face again. ]

Hey, wake up.

[ Surprisingly, he is asleep by the time Dave comes thundering back in. The past few nights it's been hard to come by and the altercation was nothing if not cathartic. His head twists and jerks up, there's a long slow rii-i-iip and a snag that he has to jerk his head back from, blinking his bleary eyes quickly.

There's a threat.

Gotta be, that's the only thought in his head for the first three minutes before he takes in the bottles and the human sprawled in the chair. Then it's disappointment and melancholy silence that follows. ]

Brought you something.

[ he nods his head toward the case on the table, not even trying to sound proud of his shitty offering. neither that or the snack wrap that he produces from the large front pocket of his hoodie and drops it on the table next to the booze. ]

[ He stares uncomprehendingly at it for a few minutes, brows furrowing and mouth opening and closing as he waits for the right words to come. He wants to properly express his anger, how inappropriate this is, how Dave really just doesn't get it and it's not about going out and partying because he's never been a fan to begin with, its about not being alone and feeling wanted in ways bandaid solutions can't fix.

But the words don't come. So he grabs a bottle and ignores the snack plate as he gets the cap off and starts to down it. ]

[ atta boy. Dave just nods his approval, swaying uncertainly in his chair. his dizzy and it's dark, even darker behind his shades and he's squinting to see Tavros in the dark, both hands gripping the arms of his chair tightly. ]

I wanna talk more. You down?

[ keep drinking. ]

You do?

[ Dave wants to talk? There's a flicker of hope he can't quite keep off of his face, thankful for then darkness and for the fact that the night is when he sees best.

He hates the taste of alcohol and the few times he's been drunk it wasn't for very long or really of his own volition. Still, the movies and experience has taught him in it's own way that this somehow makes it all better in the long run and if that's true then he'll drink it all to stop the lonely aches. ]

No. I don't.

[ he feels like someone's slowly shaking his chair back and forth so he puts his chin in his hand to give it some support lest he get even dizzier and it helps him train his dim vision on Tavros a little better. what he can make out of him, anyway. he can see the light on the liquid in those little bottles better, splashes of red and bright green dancing on the surface of the coffee table.

he guesses he might be tripping a little if colors are seriously distracting him from finishing his thoughts. what else is new. ]

Used to never even be able t'get an edge in wordswise, y'never shut up ever and now it's the complete opposite.

[ Bluh that tastes gross. He sticks his tongue out and furrows his brows, presses a hand to his forehead and considers just stopping and going back to bed in case this makes him sick. Instead he starts slower, thinks that he should probably have eaten before he started because the dizziness is already setting in, and just shakes his head. ]

I used to call you, when you were away, because I missed hearing your voice. And it just, started to feel like, you didn't want to hear mine.

[ there's still that wrap on the table. it's vegetarian and everything, he was still sober enough to remember that. ]

Nah, dude. It's a'cause I couldn't hear you. Always too damn loud in those places 'n nobody would gimme a li'l space so I could say hey for a sec. Started getting frustrating.

Is, that true?

[ He wants to believe it. So badly. So fucking badly but he's not sure if he can.

But he reaches out and grabs that wrap. ]

[ he spends a good few moments nodding into what feels like empty air, but it makes him more dizzy and he stops, leaning back in his chair again and gripping the arm rests tight. ]

Would I lie to you? [ ... ] Don't answer that. 'Kay, but I'm not this time.

[ Nom. ]

[ good boy. the trick to getting smashed is to do it with a lot of food (it gives you something to actually throw up later). Dave is wise to all this stuff, it's a fourth of what he even does anymore. ]

I coulda called you back after and shit, y'know? But I didn't and thas my bad, I'm just stating it for the record right now 'cause I'm being totally honest with you. I'm not bullshitting around dude. I'm— [ hic. hahaha classy ] —I'm serious.

You never called me, period, and that is the problem. [ He gulps down another mouthful and it burns all the way down. ]

... yeah.

[ somehow he manages to wobble while sitting totally still, and he closes his eyes, pushing his shades up to rub his sinuses a little. and then stops abruptly, frowning. ]

Hey, no way, I called you once. That one time when I couldn't make it back 'cause the car broke down an' I was gonna stay with what's-her face.

[ and then he ended up fucking what's-her-face for her trouble, but that is not the topic of discussion, god damn it. ]

Uh-huh. [ The walls are back up. Tavros didn't even realize he had walls. Another big bite and he finishes that bottle and leans forward, rubbing his temples. ]

[ he bats that epiphany around for a minute or two, slogging through the murky waters of his inebriated brain for an appropriate string of words. for the right ones, rather than just whatever he can come up with to fill the air. it's surprising to him how hard it is. ]

Once isn't. Really enough. Is it.

No. It's not. [ He grabs for another bottle, gaze flicking to Dave and to the staticy television. ] Once a week, when you're going for a month, is hardly even enough. You never called me back, ever, and - did you know, people answer your phone sometimes, when you're asleep?

[ he's spacing out a little until that last comment, head snapping and shades dropping back onto his face. hell no, nobody touches his phone without his permission. and he never gives permission. ]

Are you fucking serious?

Yes.

[ Rolling onto his side. ] I guess you should try to watch, the company you keep.

[ no come back here. ]
