Sometimes the hardest things to say are also the most important. It doesn't matter how much it scares you to do so, it's finally time to be honest.

Unfortunately, you can't keep lying to your partner/friend/family anymore. You just don't feel the same for them anymore.

The person who means so much to you has done something completely unforgivable and now it's time to make sure they know where they stand. You would kill them if you ever got the chance.
03. I LOVE YOU, BUT...
A bittersweet love confession. You know you love this person more than anything, but you're not sure you can give them what they need.

No matter how you feel about this person, you really can't trust them anymore.

[ hell yes they are. as soon as Tavros sits he pushes play and settles into the couch, dragging the popcorn bowl up between them. he probably won't eat much of it, but hey, you can't have movie night without popcorn.

...yeah he doesn't even give it ten minutes before he casually tries slipping his arm around Tavros. he's a loser and he sucks. ]

[ u n s u r e.

More or less. Tavros starts at the touch and turns a little, leaning away as he does so. It's not a headbutt, it's not a bite, but he's not ready. ]

[ damn. okay, too soon, maybe. he moves his arm back, along the back of the couch and off of Tavros' shoulders, and just leaves it there for the time being, eyes straight ahead at all times. like he doesn't notice, or doesn't care if he does.

no big deal. ]

[ This movie is kind of cute in a humans and their boring non-animated cinema kind of way. Tavros helps himself to popcorn and the wine.

Mmm. Fizzy bubbles.

Maybe he should stop. Because drinking is bad idea when he's upset, he's getting really tipsy. His tolerance kind of sucks. ]

[ and Dave is noticing that's happening, yes. which is partly why he's pretty much stopped drinking altogether—more for Tavros. more wine, less popcorn. he'll work on getting rid of that, even if his appetite is shit and he's eaten more today than he probably has in the past year or something. ]

[ It's not long before there's a high brown flush to his cheeks. There's no popcorn left and he's still got a full glass there and it would be a waste to pour it out and being drunk is kind of a nice feeling. He doesn't have to think about all the things that were bothering him!

His head is just resting against the back of the couch now. ]

[ well golly gee goodness! would you look at that. Tavros is fucking toasted. Dave finally turns toward him and raises an eyebrow, shifting that arm he's still got back there to nudge him a little. ]

Wow, dude, you really went at it with that wine. Think I might have to cut you off.

[ His head lolls lazily to the side, eyebrows raising slightly while a lazy smile spreads across his face. ] Uh... Yeah, I guess.

[ slowly... gently... fluffs at his mohawk a little, shaking his head and reaching for the glass in his hand. easy there, buddy. ]

Haven't seen you look like that in awhile.

[ Leaning into Dave's hand, shutting his eyes and stifling a contented yawn. ]

You haven't been home, to see it.

[ excellent. he's not watching, maybe he won't notice Dave leaning in a little closer. ]

I'm here now, aren't I? Here and gettin' a reminder of how damn cute you can be.

[ His nose scrunches up. ]

Cute is for, wigglers.

[ pokes his nose. with his own nose. ]

Deal with it.

[ There's a chuckle. Tavros tilts his head back and presses a kiss to his nose. ]

It has been both shuffled and dealt.

[ well if that's passable then he figures it's safe to go in for a kiss, albeit maybe one that's lighter and slower than he would've liked. last time he tried mashing their mouths together he got such a nasty bite he nearly needed stitches. then again, things were kind of different then. ]

[ This time, though he freezes at first, some remaining shred of sobriety reminding him that he's mad he shouldn't be letting Dave slip back in after a few small gestures with no real promise of change. His teeth part behind his lips, he's prepared to fall into newfound habits and bite but he stops.

He's lonely. He is. He can't escape it any more. He can't keep throwing up these walls and chasing Dave off. Even if it's temporary, at least he's here. He lifts a hand up to gently grab Dave's face and deepens the kiss, all raw desperation and pleas to be loved. ]

[ and nothing, not a single thing from the first time he cheated to the last, has felt this good. Dave grabs back and pushes into it with a quiet inhale (mm, wine breath), still tense but too stupid to care, just a little desperate and oh so relieved that he managed to pull this off for once. and that it feels amazing and not awful and bloody for once.

it might not feel right, but it feels good. that's all he can really ask for. ]

[ Being alone is one of the hardest things. Tavros is eager and willing and this is as good an excuse as any to let it happen without being overwhelmed by guilt, feeling that his confidence and self-assurance has once again been undermined by weakness so deeply ingrained in him. It's desperation and the need for warmth and love that has him pulling Dave even closer, letting one arm loop around his waist while he opens his mouth to deepen it further. ]

[ once he gets started it's hard to stop, that's always been his weakness. he never knows when enough is enough, no self-control whatsoever. and with Tavros it's even harder, he's even stupider, there's feelings there and it makes him desperate and pathetic and just as weak in his own way. foolish, just answering problems with sex because talking isn't cool, feelings aren't cool. wanting Tavros isn't cool, dating a troll isn't cool, digging a guy isn't cool. they're not cool, he's not cool. but being in control is, dipping his tongue into Tav's mouth and not caring whether he nicks his tongue on those sharp teeth, grabbing him by the horn and pushing him down against the arm of the couch, pressing in close and just giving in to impulse.

hot, impulsive famous guys that talk with their dicks are cool. and as long as he's being cool and taking control and getting it feeling good in here then at least he's in his element and neither of them have to think about it. and deep down, he can feel like it really means something. that's the part that feels the best. ]

[ it feels good. for once, it feels good, there's no pain or crushing inadequacy because dave is here and dave wants him even if he's a failure of a troll, even if he should have been culled, even if he can't preform all the ways a matesprit should be able to. He drops a hand, grabs dave's ass and enjoys the feeling of it in his hands for the first time in ages. ]

[ it gets him to grind down a little and the friction is kind of a shellshocker, like, what did you honestly expect it to feel like, Dave. it feels like you're rubbing up against your boyfriend, like you did when you stopped thinking of him as just some enormous tool of a troll and started thinking of him as something else. back when you could hardly manage to take your hands off each other, and you were still just a nobody trying to be somebody. it wasn't even that long ago, what, did you forget already?

also he kind of can't believe they might end up fucking on the couch to starsky and goddamn hutch. like of all the things. he honestly has to pull away for a second to just look at Tavros and reaffirm that this isn't something he dreamed up. not in that "too good to be true" kind of way, just... "what the hell am i doing," maybe.

no, fuck. this was the plan. to get a boner. and he got one. so what's the problem. ]

[ No. If they stop, he'll think, and if he thinks then how wrong it is will settle in his head and loneliness will come back. So instead he just nuzzles against Dave's neck, letting his teeth lightly graze over the skin. They're doing this, they're making it happen, he'll consider consequences when Dave's gone again and when he's in another troll's bed pretending he's not just as bad.

He slips his thumbs into the waistband of Dave's pants and slowly eases them down. ]
